A major mystery I have yet to understand is why people consciously allow themselves to speak negatively about themselves. In the article titled “The World is a Reflection of You”, we addressed how our mind creates our reality. And the things that define the nature of our individual mind is the content which we put into it.

This includes what we watch, what we see, but it also includes what we say to others and how we speak to ourselves. So many people self-deprecate and talk down on themselves. If only they knew the damage they were doing to themselves.

Bruce Lee said it best:

Don’t speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn’t know the difference. Words are energy and cast spells, that’s why it’s called spelling.

Your brain and mind only knows to run off of what is being put into it. When you speak negatively about yourself, you are setting up the nature of your habitual thinking patterns. It will become automatic, as your mind starts to keep those negative thinking cycles into place.

The way to combat this is to change the way you speak about yourself and to yourself. Stop using negative words. Stop putting yourself down. And begin to talk positively about yourself, even if you do not believe it at first.

This means that if you encounter a challenge, instead of reacting with words that are attributed with doubt and fear, you use words that carry a spirit of hope and potential.

One of the best ways to adjust your thinking cycles is to do focused affirmations everyday. This means to take a set of words/lines and repeat them to yourself repeatedly.

This is an example:

“I’m a winner”

“I love myself”

“I believe in myself”

If a person took those lines and every morning repeated it to themselves 10 times over, your mind would have no choice but to process those words. And once it becomes a habit, it will start to influence your pattern of thinking.

However, you can create your own set of affirmations based on whatever way you need it. So if you need to learn self love, the affirmations can be made based on that. If you need to believe in yourself, then tailor the affirmations to that. If you need to attract money into your life, then customise it for that.

Some of the best affirmations are based on a state of present-beingness. So affirm what you want to be as if you are already there. For example: “I AM confident”, rather than “I WILL be confident”. You will subconsciously process that in a way that triggers you to be it now, which is what you want.

In conclusion, it is important to recognise the power of the mind and how you can manipulate it’s natural process to suit your needs. And once you start to change how you speak to yourself, you will cure many problems that did not need to be there.
